Excellent
Arantxa was a fun guide who not only shared a bit of the history of Madrid, but gave us interesting tidbits about the area, including some of her favorite restaurants and bars. We had plenty to eat and drink. We may need to look into making our own vermouth when we arrive home. We “rolled” out of the evening as happy as could be. Our group was just the right size-eight other travelers. It was a convivial group. Lots of fun and we would recommend. 😀

A fun evening with a great Tapas Experience and a fantastic guide, Cassandra! Found the meeting point using Google maps with no problems. Cassy did the introductions so we knew everyone’s names before starting out. Nice group! We did four Tapas bars, each had a history and a specialty tapas that was preselected. Two had sit down seating and two were “traditional stand at the bar” in a crowd, but loads of fun! Lots of walking (wear comfy shoes). Second half of your we saw sunset and then the city came to life at night. Cassy included a bit of history and pointed out landmarks as we walked. Lots of food, even though is was tapas. No hungry people at the end!

Gabriella was an instant delight! She really knows her history and brought a ton of fun to this already awesome food and beverage tour. Each place we went was steeped in culture and history, and the establishments that hosted us were kind and very generous. Delicious food and interesting drinks you can only get here in Spain! I was the only solo participant in the group, and Gabriella made me feel 100% included and was even able to answer questions I had about other culture's history in the region. I highly recommend this activity!

Know Before You Book

Is this the best tapas tour in Madrid?
We think so—and so do the 2,000+ guests who’ve given us five stars. This is the original Madrid tapas tour that launched in 2012, and it’s still the gold standard for travelers who want to explore the city through its best tapas, taverns, and stories.
How much food and drink is included?
Plenty! You’ll enjoy 10+ traditional tapas and 5 drinks (including vermouth, cava, and regional wines) across three family-run stops. It’s a full dinner, Barcelona-style. Come hungry.
What kind of tapas will I try?
The lineup varies with the seasons and availability, but expect a mix of Catalan and Spanish staples—things like *butifarra* sausage, crema catalana, fried fish, croquettes, and more. Every dish is carefully chosen to reflect local traditions and flavors.
What drinks are included?
Each stop includes a traditional drink—like vermouth on tap, crisp ciders, and quality Spanish wines. If you don’t drink alcohol, no worries—there are non-alcoholic options available at every stop.
Is this a walking tour?
Yes, but it’s a gentle stroll with plenty of breaks. Along the way, you’ll explore Madrid’s historic center, including the Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor, and hidden streets in the Habsburg Quarter.
Is this tour good for solo travelers?
Definitely. Our small groups are friendly, social, and perfect for solo travelers looking to connect over great food and conversation.
Are dietary needs accommodated?
We’ll do our best. There are usually vegetarian options, but vegan, gluten-free, or allergy-specific substitutions may be limited due to the traditional nature of the tapas. Let us know in advance and we’ll do what we can.
Do I need to speak Spanish?
Not at all. Your expert local guide is fluent in English and Spanish and will handle all communication, so you can just relax and enjoy the experience.
